As with our Architectural Structural Skylights we offer a wide selection of Florida and Miami Dade approved hurricane proof/impact resistant skylights for commercial, institutional, government and residential use. Impact resistant skylights, also known as high impact skylights, are custom engineered to provide the safety required by the latest building codes for cyclic wind pressures and impact caused by hurricanes.
Our impact resistant skylights are available in two sided and four sided capture using both high impact rated laminated and insulating glass. Our previously installed systems have withstood a number of hurricanes with no resulting failure.
Skylight Concept impact resistant skylights are both Florida and Miami Dade approved skylights and meet requirements for the most stringent building codes. Should a project require extreme pressure loading we are able to offer project specific testing and one time approvals. As codes change we are constantly upgrading our systems and engineering to meet and exceed any requirements.
The impact resistant skylights have been tested for both small and large missile impact. By code, large missile resistance is a requirement for elevations less than 30 feet while above the elevations of 30 feet only small missile resistance is a requirement however we have gone beyond this minimum requirement and use large missile resistance regardless of elevation.
